The purpose of the volunteer program is to enhance the quality of life for persons receiving services from Great River Homes, Inc. by providing opportunities for friendship and community inclusion.

The volunteer program of Great River Homes, Inc. includes church volunteers and 1 to 1 friends. The church volunteers supervise people during church and provide transportation to and from worship services. The 1 to 1 friends have ongoing relationships with people receiving services and provide a variety of social and recreational opportunities and experiences based upon mutual interests.

Great River Homes, Inc. is required to conduct background studies and motor vehicle reports on all volunteers providing direct services prior to direct contact with persons receiving services from Great River Homes, Inc.

The volunteer program is designed to be mutually beneficial to the volunteer and the individual.
